The woman who claims she was kidnapped, bound and raped by a Snellville man was open about her interest in bondage fantasies, associates say.
She said she and her husband are into it, said Marissa Kaye, an Alpharetta makeup artist who did work for the alleged rape victim. A recent photo shoot featuring the 24-year-old Atlanta woman showed her dressed in bondage garb, Kaye said.
David Joseph Jansen, the man charged with aggravated rape and kidnapping in Sevier County, Tenn., told deputies he and his alleged victim were on a romantic getaway from their spouses and the woman was sexually aroused by bondage, according to the Sevier County Sheriffs Department report of the May 26 incident.
A colleague at Tattletales, an Atlanta strip club where the woman worked as a dancer, said the woman and her husband were into bondage role playing. The Tattletales employee declined to be identified. The clubs management told employees not to speak with the media about the case.
Tennessee investigators say there are no plans to drop rape charges against Jansen, despite learning of the alleged victims prior convictions for filing a false rape claim in Cherokee County and fabricating an assault allegation in Fannin County. Shes currently serving probation for the latter offense.
A person that has been guilty of that before could certainly be telling the truth and be kidnapped and raped, said Steven R. Hawkins, chief assistant district attorney in Sevier County.
Hawkins said he anticipates the womans prior convictions will be discussed July 17, when Jansen is due to make his first court appearance in Tennessee.
Im sure it will come out in court, the attorney said. It certainly will go to her credibility. We just need to look at all the evidence and find the truth in the case.
Police records show the suspect informed officers he took extra steps during what he called a planned sexual encounter with the 24-year-old, including driving past a potential witness so not to be seen.
Both the suspect and victim told investigators they knew each other before the alleged kidnapping.
The Tattletales colleague said Jansen was a regular customer at the club.
Mr. Jansen is a super nice guy and did spend a lot of time at the club - two, three times a week, said the club employee. He gave a sizable amount of money to [the alleged victim] and other girls.
The co-worker said Jansen was never violent to any of the dancers.
The city of Atlanta requires every dancer to be licensed. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has requested her license.
A manager at Tattletales said he could not discuss employees. The alleged victim has not returned repeated phone calls and e-mails.
Jansens attorney also did not respond to requests seeking comment.
Those who know the woman said she suffered from a medical condition that caused her to pass out without warning.
She has a very brave character, said Mike Jenks, who met the woman about three or four years ago when the two were acting in community theater in Cherokee County. He said he witnessed her losing consciousness on several occasions.
Shed fall down in mid-sentence, said Jenks, who saw her collapse, face down, into a creek while visiting her mother in Fannin County. People just dont understand it. I felt sorry for her, but I also admired her fighting through it.
Makeup artist Kaye said she also observed the woman pass out unexpectedly.
Shed tell me she got in several car accidents because of it, said Kaye, who last saw the woman about a month ago.
Both Jenks and Kaye described the woman as somewhat naive.
Shes the kind of girl who doesnt do much without someone there to guide her, Kaye said.
The AJC has a policy not to name alleged victims of sexual assault.
