Name: Maureen Hautaniemi

You host a popular sex and drugs trivia night at The Savant Project. How hard is it to think of new questions for every Sunday night? Well, I have a really interesting Google history on my computer. Its full of lots of dirty things. Usually Ill look up a lot of things on Wikipedia and Ill think, hmmm, today Im going to look up bondage and Ill research everything about bondage and come up with five questions. . . . Its definitely educational. Its been crazy.
When we were setting up a time to talk, you said that you were picking up a chandelier. Is that for your place? I wish. That would be amazing. My ceilings arent high enough for a chandelier. Were getting a big new chandelier for the restaurant. I did just paint my living room, though, so thats pretty cool.
Are you into home improvement-type stuff? Sometimes. I get into it occasionally. I also have a garden over in The Fens. Now, because the season is over, I do more projects around the house and fix things up there and at the restaurant. Im always fixing or growing things.
How would you describe your personal style? When I went to school I had really long hair and wore jeans and T-shirts and didnt [care]. Then I got all these really great internships and started being in the business world and working at The Savant Project. And then I got my hair cut [at the Mitchell John Salon] in this really awesome, funky way. It really just boosted my style. I do a lot of shopping at Poor Little Rich Girl and The Garment District and try to pick up new, different clothes that way.
Whats the best movie youve seen lately? Oh my God, I would say two movies, both by Jan Svankmajer. Hes a Czech film director and he did a movie called Alice and another one called Little Otik that are crazy, modern. . . . Its stop-motion animation. Alice is a version of Alice in Wonderland and the white rabbit is made from a taxidermy animal and brought to life through animation. I dont think Tim Burton can even touch Alice in Wonderland after seeing this movie.
