MINNEAPOLIS-USA-- Self-proclaimed dominatrix says disabled man asked to be tied up A Minneapolis woman accused of robbing a legally blind New Hope man who uses a wheelchair told police she was a dominatrix and had tied the man up at his request.
Monique Dee McFarland, 34, was charged Thursday with a felony count of theft over $500. The man's laptop, digital camera, lockbox, checkbook, keys, wallet and cell phone were taken, according to the criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court.
The 53-year-old man told New Hope police that he had met McFarland earlier in the month on a chat line and she gave him her cell phone number, the complaint said.
On Feb. 13, the complaint said, McFarland went to the man's apartment, where she pulled a knife, told him to take off his clothes and tied his hands to his bed using two neckties.
The man told police that McFarland took at least a half-hour to go through his home and, at some point, he thought another woman came in, the complaint said. He was still tied to his bed when they left, but he eventually freed himself and called 911.
McFarland's criminal record includes several theft convictions in Hennepin County, as well as in Wright and St. Louis counties. She also was convicted of forging checks in Hennepin County in 2008 and offering a forged check in Washington County in 2007.
She was held in Hennepin County jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

St. Louis Park man charged with sexual assault, kidnapping A St. Louis Park man is accused of holding a woman captive near the Interstate 394 overpass in Minneapolis last summer and raping her over seven hours.
Michael Ray Genty, 42, was charged Wednesday with two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of kidnapping. Minneapolis police arrested him after his DNA profile in the Minnesota Convicted Offender DNA database matched DNA taken in the rape investigation, according to the criminal complaint filed in Hennepin County District Court.
On the morning of July 30, the woman told police that she had been walking when a man grabbed her from behind and forced her to go a homeless camp near the overpass where it leads to ramps for Interstate 94, the complaint said. There he showed a knife, threatened to kill her and raped her repeatedly.
Genty was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail at the Hennepin County jail, according to jail records.
