JAPAN - Many stewardesses at crisis-hit Japan Airlines are set to lose their jobs - and so some are cashing in by selling their sought-after uniform to kinky sex lovers!
The strict-looking JAL uniform is becoming extremely popular on the black market. The dark, subtle-coloured, straight cut hostess uniform is anything other than sexy.
But they are very popular among sex role play fans, and are becoming increasingly sought after by fetish enthusiasts and the sex industry.
Japan Airlines was forced to declare itself bankrupt in January. Now the crippled airline fears an image crisis through the sale of their uniforms on the black market.
By the end of March, 1,300 air hostesses will be made redundant. But they can tide themselves over by raking in the money from the admirers of their outfit.
"We have very strict rules on our uniforms and when people leave the company they are required to return them," a spokeswoman for JAL told the
Daily Telegraph.
It's a question of security, as anyone wearing a JAL uniform at an airport could quite easily access restricted areas.
Every piece of uniform from the largest airline in Asia has its own serial number so that it can be traced back to its owner.
In spite of that, a few pieces have already been sold to the black market. The airline allegedly bought a ground crew uniform for 1,660 to take it off the market a few years ago.
A blazer can be bought online for a few hundred Euros and a complete uniform is on sale for 2,200, according to the Daily Telegraph. Uniforms that have been worn attract higher prices.
Many stewardesses may now see this as a pleasant redundancy bonus!
