Prosecutors show bondage film in attempted rape case

A bondage film, described by the prosecution as a how-to video in the attack on a woman in Plumas Lake, was shown to jurors Thursday in the trial of Marcus Charles Hagins, charged with assault to commit rape.


The jury also heard testimony by Detective Kevin Conde of the Marysville Police Department that Hagins had more than 8,000 images of bondage porn on a laptop computer Hagins used.

The videotape shown jurors depicts a masked intruder entering a bedroom and inserting a ball gag into the mouth of a woman.

The prosecution, in a filing in the case, cited the striking similarities between the crime and the video.

A 20-year-old woman has testified in the trial that a man wearing a black hood and bandana over his face assaulted her in her bedroom last year. The man put a ball gag in her mouth, she said.

Hagins knew the woman from East Nicolaus High and the woman said she was missing a key to her home after the two had gone to the Roseville Galleria. Prosecutors contend Hagins took the house key after she asked him to hold her purse while she went to a dressing room. He then used the key about six months later to enter her house, according to the prosecution.

The mother of the young woman called 911 in May 2009 after hearing noises and the intruder fled.

Closing arguments in the case are expected Friday.
Hagins is being held in Yuba County Jail on $500,000 bail.
