The Sexual Manifesto: Where's All the Good Femdom Porn?

SAN FRANCISCO- Once you get me started on the topic of porn , I can't stop. And this time I have a bone to pick with femdom porn. Or, more specifically, why isn't there more of it, or more of what I like?


First, a little lesson for the vanillas. "Femdom" is what it sounds like: dominant women. No, not nagging women. Women who are in control of their partners, possibly sadistic, and anywhere on the spectrum from generous and nursing (yes, sometimes that kind of nursing) to cold-hearted evil Goddess bitch. It usually implies dominance over men, but quite frankly, a Domme can (consensually) dominate whomever she damn well chooses, whether that's men, women, naughty boys, little girls, genderqueers, transfolk, ladyboys, puppyboys...

Kink.com, (NSFW) certainly has, ahem, dominion over quality femdom porn. Its site Divine Bitches features "Maîtresse Madeline and her team of beautiful and ruthless Dominatrices (who) humiliate, dominate and indoctrinate pathetic male subs in female supremacy." And that boils down to a lot of cock-and-ball torture, verbal humiliation (including small penis humiliation), denied orgasm or orgasm control, pegging, all kinds of pain, rope bondage, body worship or servicing, and the occasional chastity device. The dominatrices are beautiful, yes. But if you're looking for big, muscly, burly, hairy men like the ones featured on the brother site Bound Gods(NSFW), well, you'd have to go to Bound Gods, now wouldn't you?

I am sure plenty of people enjoy the type of femdom porn Kink produces. It's hot to see a beautiful woman dominate and otherwise torture a pathetic, groveling man-boy. But for some femdom worshipers, it's even hotter to see beautiful women dominate and otherwise torture men who look like they can hold their own in a 5-on-1 street knife fight. You know how they say "the bigger they are the harder they fall?" I don't know about you, but there is something visually stunning in watching a man who looks like he could throw a woman over his shoulders instead fall to his knees and submit so thoroughly and obediently to his Mistress. Femdom (and D/s porn in general) is so varied that it's hard to find a consistent stream of what meets your arousal standards. Which works sorta, except when you remember that this is femdom we're talking about. You know, with the whole woman-in-charge thing? Oh yeah, that.

I understand that a lot if not most porn is made with a male audience in mind, either consciously or subconsciously. But this seems like the kind of porn more women could enjoy, even if you don't consider yourself kinky. Push him on the bed for once! Truth be told, Kink.com seems a lot more women-friendly than a lot of production companies out there. Still, the audience is decidedly male, if you trust the metrics. Quantcast, estimates the visitors (not necessarily the customers) of kink.com as 71% male. Divinebitches.com, isn't that different, with men making up 66% of all visitors. But put those numbers against the oft-touted "women make up one-third of the porn audience" line, and the numbers add up. They add up really well, especially if you consider that not all production companies can claim that women are as much as one-third of their customer base.

So what's a lady to do? Write letters to her local representative? You can always make, star in, or direct your own porn. But that takes time, effort, and the ability to watch yourself on camera. As for me, I'm just complaining on the internet. Then again, I like telling other people what to do.
