COLUMBUS USA- A Columbus High School security guard was released by the Columbus Municipal School District Tuesday amid suspicions of ties to a sadomasochistic blog.
Suspicions arose last week that former Columbus police officer and Columbus High School security guard Seretta Richardson was Lady Cimarron, a pseudonym used by a self-described dominatrix who authored an online blog that has since been removed from the internet. Richardson met with CMSD attorney David Dunn Tuesday after an investigation into the website began Monday morning. Richardson denied having any ties to or knowledge of the website despite being identified by district employees in photographs posted to the site.
Richardson did not return calls seeking comment. A statement received Tuesday from CMSD Superintendent Dr. Del Phillips stated "Ms. Richardson is no longer an employee of the CMSD, and the District cannot comment further on this personnel matter." Phillips acknowledged the pictures may have been posted by someone other than Richardson. He also specified the blog was not created using district computers or during school hours.
The blog, which Phillips referred to as "disturbing" and "offensive," featured a brutal fictional story chronicling the descent of a white man named Mike into slavery, at the hands of a "beautiful" black dominatrix.
As Lady Cimarron, the author also had a profile listed at collarme.com. The site claims to be "the largest BDSM community on the planet."
BDSM is a multiple acronym, standing for bondage and discipline, dominance and submission and sadomasochism.
Lady Cimarron's blog and profile at collarme.com both had been pulled from the web by Monday morning.
Legally, the school district needed no evidence to fire Richardson. Security guards are at-will employees, meaning the employment agreement can be terminated by either employer or employee at any time without reason or warning. Phillips also was not legally bound to take the matter to the board of trustees.
As a precaution, Dunn researched First Amendment cases and discrimination law to ensure the district was not in violation of Richardson's rights.
A general conduct statement for all CMSD employees requires they "maintain the highest ethical and moral standards in relations with students." It is unknown if any students were exposed to the blog.
