NEW YORK- A Manhattan judge has tossed a camera-shy woman's lawsuit against a former friend who she claims turned her into an unwitting Internet bondage model.
Mary Ellen Campagnola filed the $100,000 suit against photographer Carmine Scarpa last year, claiming that she does not like being photographed and that he duped her into posing for racy pictures later posted in "a sexual advertisement featuring women being bound, gagged and hog-tied."
Campagnola, 47, said Scarpa had assured her he wasn't taking any pictures when she was striking the risqué poses, but only seeking inspiration for how to pose models.
When the Staten Island woman first met lawyer-turned-photographer Scarpa in 2004, he asked if he could take her picture. She said no.
But they developed a relationship, and in April 2005, he asked her to pose "without being photographed" to help him decide how to place his models, the suit claimed.
She posed about 10 times -- but ended their friendship in 2006 when details of her private life started showing up on the Web, according to the suit.
Worse followed -- in 2008, she started seeing pictures of herself on a bulletin board in the "sexual advertisement," she said.
In a decision made public yesterday, Justice Milton Tingling threw out her case on a technicality, saying it should be filed in New Jersey, where Scarpa lives.
Scarpa did not return an e-mail requesting comment.
