Vancouver Taboo sex show has something for everyone

VANCOUVER- When it comes to sex, Taboo Naughty But Nice Show master Sarah Moanies, mistress of the stage, has a pretty simple mantra:


"What could be taboo for me might not be taboo for you and vice versa," said Moanies, as she readied for Thursday's opening of the 10th annual show that runs until Sunday at the Vancouver Convention Centre (taboosexshow.com).

There are 150-plus vendors selling everything from leather pants to books about bondage.

Want to learn how to lap dance like a pro? There's a seminar for that. In fact there's a wide range of seminars, including lectures from local psychologists.

"Everything is on a voluntary basis except the dominatrix seminars, where you will be voluntold what to do," laughed Moanies.
Joking aside, Moanies says the show isn't about freaking people out.

"It's not our intention to shock people. We want people to be comfortable in an environment where they can explore their curiosities."

While a lot of people turn to the Internet to fulfil their fantasies, Moanies points out that a show like this has a symbiotic relationship with the web.

"It kind of goes hand in hand because a lot of companies and vendors that are here as exhibitors have web-based businesses," said Moanies. "So they sell online. But the best way to sell to your clients is for the clients to actually pick up and see it and take a look at it."
