USA- There are a lot of interesting characters in the business world. Celeb CEOs such as Donald Trump, Warren Buffet, and Steve Jobs are household names. Now get ready to meet Lynn Tilton, the flamboyant platinum blonde who runs the $7 billion private equity firm Patriarch Partners
. The leather-loving Tilton, who sometimes brandishes a whip and describes herself as a dominatrix, landed her own reality TV show, The Diva of Distressed. The new show, which will air on
Rainbow Medias, Sundance Channel, follows Tilton as she runs her firm, which specializes in turning around midsized companies that are often on the brink of failure. In a preview of the new
show, Tilton visits Old Town, Maine where she owns a wood pulp mill. Shes seen strutting around the factory grounds in five-inch stilettos and offering up tidbits of wisdom to workers like, Its women who really run the world.
Despite of (or maybe due to) Tiltons out-of-the ordinary personality style, she is a successful businesswoman. The self-made billionaire has made her money snatching up teetering companies and helping them return to greatness (or transforming them from dust to diamonds as she likes to put it). Patriarchs portfolio includes companies such as
Rand McNally, MD Helicopters, and Stila Cosmetics.
As the economy rebounds, the public is becoming more and more interested in the goings on in the business world. Shows like Undercover Boss, Secret Millionaire, and the grandaddy of them all, The Apprentice, have become popular vehicles for businesses to showcase their products and services alongside some rather interesting company leaders.
Tilton seems born to star in her own reality show. Hers looks like it will be a mix between The Real Housewives of New Jersey and The Apprentice. Im not exactly sure if Tilton has a catch phrase yet, but this quote seems to be popping up a lot:
Its only men I strip and flip, she said. My companies I keep long term and very close to my heart.
