UK - MAIDSTONE - A woman who pretended she had been raped after voluntarily engaging in a sado-masochistic bondage session with an online partner has been jailed. The 21-year-old British woman, Kirsty Sowden, wasted hundreds of hours of police time and about €17,000 by claiming she had been raped when she had just cheated on her boyfriend.
Kirsty decided she had a thing for bondage and began searching for a partner online. She advertised herself as a 'BDSM princess' on a no strings attached website and quickly found a man called Andrew Boarer.
Sowden went for a kinky sex session with him, but soon felt guilty and realised her boyfriend may be a little unhappy with the whole affair thing.
She then decided pretending to have been raped was the best idea. Police arrested two men, one of them Andrew.
The court finally discovered the truth - that Sowden voluntarily went to Andrew's house and was spanked while wearing a collar.
Andrew told the court: "Towards the end, she was lying on the bed and she said she did not want to do it anymore. She said her boyfriend would kill her if he found out."
Maidstone Crown Court heard how she told police that she had been raped by a bald stranger, aged in his 40s, who grabbed her arm in the park as she left the gym.
Sowden, who was trying for a baby with her then boyfriend, has been jailed for 14 months after admitting to the charges of wasting police time and perverting the course of justice.
