USA - A bondage scene featuring Cameron Diaz drove Cannibal Cop Gilberto Valle into such a frenzy that he spent the rest of his life being aroused by thoughts of abducting and tying up women, his lawyer said.
Valles fascination with S&M - which allegedly grew into a twisted plot to kidnap women and slow cook them - began by seeing Diazs 1994 flick The Mask as a 10-year-old, his lawyer said.
The suspects kinky awakenings appears to have originated with a scene in the move . . . in which Cameron Diaz pretends to be abducted and bound, defense attorney Julia Gatto wrote in a letter to Manhattan Federal Court Judge Paul Gardephe.

Mr. Valle reported that since early adolescence, he has experienced erotic arousal when imagining naked women or when imagining women abducted and bound by others, Gatto wrote, citing observations by psychiatrist Paul Dietz, who is working with the defense.
Gatto added that Valle also told Dietz that in his sophomore year of college, he viewed his roommates pornographic DVDs - which led him to darker websites that were his gateway into cannibalism pornography.
Dietz is prepared to testify that Valle never planned to act out his fantasies, Gatto wrote. Dietz also claims Valle repressed his feelings because he wanted to end up with an attractive, smart and respectable woman, Gatto wrote.

He did not then know that there are respectable women who are willing to engage in bondage, she added.
Valle, a married dad and six-year NYPD veteran, was busted in October on charges of planning to kidnap, rape, cook and eat women with conspirators he met through an online fetish website.
Prosecutors charge Valle used federal and state law-enforcement databases - including the encrypted National Crime Information Database - to cull names, photos and even bra sizes of at least 100 potential targets.

Valle, who had been assigned to the 26th Precinct in Morningside Heights, was arrested as he plotted to kidnap a Manhattan woman and deliver her to a cyber-pal, Michael Van Hise, who offered to pay $5,000.
Van Hise, 22, a married father of two from Hamilton, N.J., was arrested in early January.
Police said there is no evidence Valle and Van Hise carried out their diabolical plans.
