Ireland's real life Christian Grey lifts lid on booming S&M scene
Dublin bondage scene now has more than 500 active members

IRELAND - DUBLIN - Ireland's very own Christian Grey has lifted the lid on the real life world of 50 Shades of Grey going under the radar here.
The 23-year-old has just finished college and has been a dominant like the main character of the steamy E. L James’ novel since he was 15-years-old.
He told the Irish Mirror how this was something he always knew he wanted but hid his feelings for so long.
The insider said: “The Church still has big roots here. You go through that whole Catholic shame thing for a while. You think this is wrong.
“For years I really disliked what I was. But you come full circle. You learn to live with it and get on with it and learn you’re not exactly alone.”
Nobody would ever know what this young lad does behind closed doors - his nights are spent at private parties.
He’s an ordinary guy with ordinary friends but his nights with this social circle are spent at private parties hosted by pro-dominatrix - or pro doms.
The scene in Dublin is growing with 500 active members.
But this is small compared to other countries and the S&M community’s social networking site has more than three million members worldwide. It’s the fetish world’s Facebook.
Private parties are invite-only but new people are introduced to the world of kink by going to Nimhneach - parties where people “play” in public - held once a month on Dublin’s Abbey Street.
There’s strictly no sex allowed or you’ll feel the wrath of club security.
You can learn the ropes at a plain-clothes “munch” beforehand but Nimhneach refuses entry to anyone who’s not clad in leather or latex.
The source tells the Mirror: “On my first night, I walked in the door of the Academy. There was a girl on the stage. A man was suspending her from the ceiling.
“They tied her ankles together. Tied her hands across her chest. There were people shackled to a cross in one corner and people dancing in latex to the Prodigy in another.
“It’s kind of like your Debs all over again. People are sizing each other up.”

The 23-year-old said: “You buy one high-quality catsuit, it’ll last for five years. I’ve had that straightjacket for two years and will have it for another 10.”
Not only do you have to spend big but people on the Irish scene are highly trained.
It’s incredibly safe and he’s shocked by people who think they can just dive into it. He added: “People aren’t morons. You know where to look out for the jugular and carotid arteries in the neck. How to tie a rope to avoid the femoral artery. How to do it but be safe at the same time.”
The young man, who studies in Dublin, said there are two different types of people - you are either dominant, submissive or switch - where you change roles.
For this real-life Grey, he’s usually dominant. He revealed: “I like seeing someone torn apart by lust.” He explains that when you are submissive like the innocent Ana Steele, you go into a place called “sub-space” and a few hours later or even the next day, you can then “sub-drop”.
He said: “Depending on how emotionally stable or unstable you are, it can be a real traumatic experience to be brought out of that headspace abruptly.
“You were on such an adrenaline rush, such a high. It’s a big change of emotions. Now all of a sudden - gone.”
You’d be hard-pushed to find a helicopter like Grey’s to take your mind off things but Irish doms spend the next day with their partners to make sure they don’t drop.

He added: “You can’t force someone to do something they’re not comfortable with. It’s not like the movies.”
He laughs at the idea of Christian Grey and the weird relationship he has with the young Steele, saying: “It’s a running joke.
“I remember reading one scene where she’s in the bath. And I remember thinking about this and I was like, ‘I have no idea how that’s supposed to be attractive’. How unpleasant that must be. I have no idea where this comes from.”
The real Irish S&M industry is worth “millions” claims this insider and it looks set to be unstoppable.
Cork’s now home to the country’s largest gay S&M scene and scores of bondage-loving Irish travel for events every year.
The Irish Grey’s not-so-secret life took him a long time to accept and it’s one more and more Irish are joining.
