Public demonstration for kinksters rights in the Netherlands

NETHERLANDS - ZAANDAM - We had a public demonstration in the Netherlands August 21th, 2014. This was the first time BDSM minded people defended their rights in public in the Netherlands. Please share this information!
In july 2014 police and municipality officials of Zaanstad, the Netherlands, closed down our venue Phee's. Phee's is a centre for alternative lifestyles, including BDSM, LGBT and polyamourous lifestyles. Phee's organises parties, meetings and workshops in our own home for our members. It's a private place, no sex work allowed, no neighbours. Police said they never received any complaints whatsoever about our activities. Nevertheless the Mayor, Ms. Faber, closed us down without prior notice or consultation. Local public officials said we should have asked for a sex workers permit when we moved in, in January 2012. The officials wanted to check us out, to raid our private parties, and control our activities. They suggested Phee's should move to a brothel in the town centre, or to any other brothel. Just get out of here, was the hidden message.
Phee's took action! Kinksters shouldn't accept this anymore. Dutch kinksters wrote 131 personal letters to the City Council of Zaanstad, stating they don't want to be shut out of society anymore. No more fear. No more denial. Kinksters want to be able to get together, and do their thing in peace. Local administration and national governments should help kinksters to fight discrimination, and should stop hindering kinksters to get together.
Last Thursday, August 21th, thirty kinksters hopped on a bus and went to the town hall of Zaanstad to offer a petition. We outed ourselves in public. Some of us wore masks, wigs or sunglasses, and went anyway. Press attended massively and published several stories and interviews. We offered the petition, 131 personal letters, and 80 signatures to the city council. Phee's action group went to see the Mayor of Zaanstad on the same day, August 21th, and asked the Mayor to change local government's policy. The Mayor promised to send Phee's a regulatory act in two weeks.
Phee's hasn't won this battle yet! But we showed our faces. We told the world we exist, and won't go away.
